*Sighs* Life is fudging wonderful. Or maybe that's the medication talking, I can't remember anymore. ( Slowly losing my mind. .)
So I did a quick interview of a few people about what poetry meant for them. I got different wording but all the answers were basically the same. It was amazing to see the way people would talk and express themselves through poetry. I might of shed a tear. . Mhm you will never know.
But my favorite interview was this one by far (links below). :)
What inspired you to do poetry? And why?
AliceGraivenille~ Poetry conveys emotions that can be enjoyed through the eye, the mind, the heart AND the ear. You might read a good story and it'll be touching but most of the time it's just the scenery and what transpires that sparks the emotions where as poetry is melody on its own. I'm not talking about rhymes here. Even Po-Mo (Post Modern) poems that don't follow any rhyming patterns have melody. That is, if said poetry is of good quality. So that's why Poetry. Because it doesn't isolate a sense It uses all of them. There's rhythm and flow and words that when clicked together they create a feeling of "profound absolution" as if no one can ever doubt, question or challenge what is written there. Almost as if those words were created to be put together. That is poetry, for me.
What is your favorite poetry writing type? And why?
AliceGraivenille~ I've tried lots. My absolutely favourite is Po-Mo. Rhyming when done correctly is great. Shakespeare proved as much. But nowadays most rhyming poets just put words that have similar suffixes together and dub it Poetry. Free Verse is more demanding. You have to convey your thoughts and emotions to the audience without losing your flow and rhythm even if you don't rhyme. It's more demanding but leaves space to explore what truly matters. It liberates you from structure and rules. It's more... row and real. (Once again, selon moi)
Did you have any life experiences that made you start poetry? (Optional)
AliceGraivenille~ Life experiences.... mmm, No. It's not that something happened and that triggered my interest in poetry. I've always been one to write. I write all sorts of things. I just find poetry fascinating. So I gave it a shot and that was it. I fell in love with it.
Why do you think that poetry is important, to you?
AliceGraivenille~ You can tell an entire story with a few lines. You keep only what's important. You use metaphors, images, axis and all kinds of technics and it's a gemstone inside the shell. So small and yet so precious. And besides, life's so hectic and gray. Poetry's a form of beauty. Anything beautiful deserves to live and thrive because it makes life easier.
Do you dedicate your poems to a particular person? And why?
AliceGraivenille~ I dedicate my works to lots of different persons. There is however one I'm particularly fond of that I find myself including in he acknowledgments quite frequently and that's only because she makes my writing matter. You write because of the voices in your head. Because it comes naturally. But all these aside, writing is a means of communicating. You wish for someone to read what you wrote and identify, understand you. The person I'm talking about does just that. Even if she doesn't understand everything I write at first, well, she doesn't understand poetry so much because she's set that Poetry is too complex for her, even if I don't agree, she still asks me to explain and analyze and in doing so she helps me better understand my own ideas.
Here is the interview as well as a few others I didn't put in! Thank you to everyone for sparing the time to do this :)
